Ayr United 2 Dundee 2
THE Honest Men fought back from the dead to take a point against Dundee.
It looked ominous for Ayr when Dundee went two goals ahead right on the hour mark.
Craig Forsyth put the Dees ahead after 13 minutes of the first half when a Sean Higgins ball put him clear through on goal. The goal stirred Ayr and Dundee keeper Tony Bullock pulled off two super saves within a minute of each other from Ryan Stevenson's free kick efforts from around 25 yards out.
Ayr looked the more likely after the break and McGowan saw his 20 yard effort beat the keeper only to rebound off a post. Dundee continued to look dangerous on the break and Paton went close with a free kick. Ayr looked to be dead and buried when Dundee doubled their lead after 60 minutes, Lee Griffiths slotted home after being picked out in space by Gary Harkins.
The Honest Men had different ideas though and debutant Ryan McGowan, on loan from Hearts, rose to power home a cross from Ryan Borris to cut the deficit with 17 minutes left. Seconds later he almost equalised as the home crowd got behind Ayr. Dundee began to wilt under wave after wave of attacks and with four minutes of regulation time remaining Ryan Stevenson headed home from a David Gormley cross to restore parity.
On Saturday it's a trip to Firhill for thrills as Ayr take on Partick Thistle.
