The Voice of Reason shows a generous side

IT was the year-long battle between two good pals.

And charity was the winner as The Ayrshire Post’s Voice of Reason dished out a cheque for £250.

The VoR and Ayr United lottery man Dougie Morton have been locked in a heated betting scrap during the football season.

And it went right down to the wire with our man the VoR winning by a single point.

The event, sponsored by Ladbrokes, saw Prestwick’s Malcolm Sargent House receive the winner’s £250 donation.

They were the nominated charity of Post columnist the VoR, who visited the House this week to hand over the cash.

He said: “The result was never in doubt, but credit to Dougie for putting up a decent fight.

“I’ve long been an admirer of the work done here at the Malcolm Sargent House, and I trust this money will be used wisely.”

Malcolm Sargent fundraiser May Gilchrist added: “We’re delighted to accept this donation from the Voice of Reason.

“It was great to see Ayr United promoted this season and this donation maintains our close links with the club.”

United star Scott Agnew, whose nephew Carter suffers from cancer, was also at the cheque handover along with Ladbrokes’ Bobby Fulton.
