Ayr United promoted after play-off victory

AYR United are back in the First Division next season.

A massive travelling support roared on the Honest Men and a solitary strike from Ryan Stevenson after 29 minutes was enough to ensure that Ayr would go up and Airdrie would replace them in Second Division. The midfielder had been missing for the first leg due to suspension.

Airdrie huffed and puffed but never really troubled the Ayr goal in the second half, if any team looked more likely to score it was Ayr but in the end the one goal was enough.
