Ayr United and Kilmarnock in cup ticket row

AYR United have complained to the SFA after being locked in a payment dispute with derby rivals Kilmarnock.

United have still to receive their share of the gate receipts from the Scottish Cup replay defeat at Rugby Park on January 22.

A crowd of 11,563 watched the live Sky game but it is understood that Killie claim they gave out 1000 complimentary tickets, a figure which they later reduced by around a quarter. The normal agreement is 50 for each club.

Ayr are at odds with the figures which they believe are excessive and have asked Hampden’s top brass to intervene in the row.

Cash strapped Killie, who haven’t won a league game this year, have warned that relegation could force them out of business.

The club, which has a core debt of £9 million, have slumped to fourth bottom of the SPL and are only five points ahead of basement team Falkirk.
