Ayr United can deliver another knock out
POSTIE Andy Lyons hopes Ayr can deliver another knockout blow – just like they did ten years ago.
The English born midfielder scored the opener to send Ayr to a 3-0 rout. And Lyons can still remember being throw into the Seamill sea and taking part in physio John Kerr’s legendary pre-match quiz.
Lyons recalls: “That was the best group of players I ever played with. Andy Walker, John Davies and Andy Millen gave us great experience while Glynn Hurst was just making his mark in Scottish football.
“Gordon Dalziel used to take us to Seamill the night before a big game but this time we went on the Thursday. The spirit was superb and the losers of a five-a-side match were always thrown into the sea. I can remember a few cold dips.
“Kerso used to take the Friday night quiz very seriously. He was the quiz master and things used to become very heated.
“I remember my goal like yesterday and hope Ayr can do it again.”
