Ayr United boss hopes Peterhead can help out

AYR boss Brian Reid hopes Peterhead can give him a belated Christmas present by sinking leaders Raith on Saturday.

The Blue Toon dumped United 3-0 to send Rovers four points clear at the top. And while Ayr were falling at Balmoor, injury time specialists Raith, who have won ten points in the last five minutes, beat Arbroath 2-1.

Reid said: “I felt we should have got something from Peterhead but hopefully they can do to Raith what they did to us. We created plenty of chances but couldn’t put them away.”

Ayr were in action on Tuesday with a Scottish Cup replay at home to Lochee United with the big prize of a fourth round tie against Kilmarnock on January 10.

On Saturday, they host Queen’s Park who were surprise 3-0 winners over Stirling last weekend. Then on Tuesday night, they head to managerless Brechin.

Assuming Ayr beat Lochee, tickets for the Killie game would go on sale on Boxing Day from 12 noon to 4pm for season ticket holders, supporters’ club members and lottery agents.

They would get another chance on Saturday from 9am to noon. Four tickets per person.

Fans attending the Queen’s Park game will be issued with vouchers. There will be a voucher holders only sale on Monday from 9am to 3pm.

General sale will begin on Tuesday from 9am to 3pm.
