FURIOUS Glenafton chief John Timpany has hit back at claims Ayr United could have signed David Gormley for free.
An SFL tribunal ruled that Ayr should pay £1750 for the 20-year-old striker after the clubs failed to agree a fee. United later claimed they could have paid nothing as Glens had failed to follow procedures by offering new terms in writing by the correct date. But they said they would still stump up as they believed in fair play.
However, Timpany says Ayr’s claims are offside and added: “We sent a registered letter to David offering terms on June 3 and have the receipt to show it. No way would we slip up in this way.”
