Ayr United under-19s continue good start

AYR United under 19s continued their good start to the season with a 3-1 win away to Dunfermline on Sunday. Ross Robertson scored two which sandwiched an Aaron Muirhead goal.

Robertson rose to head home a Conn Boyle corner at the back post to give United the lead although Dunfermline levelled at the break.

Ayr weathered an early storm and regained the lead when from a corner, Muirhead fired home with a half volley. Robertson then netted his third goal in two games when he headed home a Connolly cross.

Coach Malky Boyle said: “It has been a brilliant start to the season and the boys have played some very good football. They know they have a chance to make the grade as professional players and are working very hard to try and achieve that personal goal.”

Ayr under 17s crashed 5-1 to Clyde at Portland Park. Manager John Stewart fielded a number of trialists but the team conceded two goals inside the first three minutes.

Central defender Steven Bonn had his nose broken in a challenge but United reduced the leeway through Dale Moore before the break. But the loss of Bonn cost United dear at the back in the second half as they lost three more goals, all from corners.
