Builder's name on the back of Ayr United shirt

DIEHARD fan Alan Johnstone has put the back of his shirt on Ayr United.

The Ayr builder was holidaying in Menorca when he heard he had won United’s shirts draw and auction.

Second prize went to decorators Simpson & Shaw who will have their name emblazoned on the first team shorts next season.

A hospitality box for four went to James H. Donald, travel on the team bus was won by Ayr United Football Academy while a signed shirt went to McGivney Construction.

A total of £9290 was raised from the venture in the Somerset hospitality suite with £1080 going to the Davie Harkness testimonial fund from the sale of tickets.

Top auction lot of a hospitality box at the Ayr v Alloa match next May - the last scheduled league match at Somerset - went for £1050 to Mark Pettigrew.

A framed shirt from the match signed by both teams raised £300 while the chance to be team mascot that day fetched £220 from Jim Shields.

Club chairman Lachlan Cameron paid £800 for a fourball at the Carrick course at Loch Lomond.

John Kay paid £120 for four Ayr race tickets while Graeme Miller forked out £50 for a signed Henry Templeton championship shirt.

The prize draw was made by Stephen Cosh, managing director of shirt sponsors Paligap.
