Ayr Utd prepare for stadium switch

AYR United hope for good news this week as they plan their switch to a brand new stadium.

But they admit they are concerned at delays which could leave them scurrying to be ready for the start of season 2009/2010.

The club are hoping to receive revised legal drafts from South Ayrshire Council which can be signed off next week.

That would allow them to start preparing the new site at Lochside in June which is seen as crucial.

Chairman Lachlan Cameron said: “The last thing we want is to be applying for a safety certificate the day before the start of our centenary season.

“Nor would we want to have to apply to the league for a mid-season date.”

The club gained provisional planning approval for the project on January 31 but are frustrated that they can’t move forward until final documents are signed.
