Ayr Utd hold open trials for international players

PLAYERS from America, Canada, Africa and England are queuing up to play for Ayr United.

And some who have been released from SPL and First Division clubs have also thrown their names into the ring.

Almost 100 applications have been received since the club announced a plan to hold open and closed trials.

The open trial will be held at Rozelle Park on Sunday June 29 at 2pm.

It is available to all amateur or unattached players who believe they can step up.

The closed trial will be held at Somerset Park on Sunday July 6 at 2pm and is for registered professionals only. Associate director Callum Torrie says the club have been bowled over by the response.

He revealed: “We believe it is a winner on all fronts. There are a large number of applications from Ayrshire which is important as we build on local links.

“Our youth academy could benefit while we could also gain fans.

“The management team will meet next week to decide on those who will go forward to the trials.”

Both trials will be attended by the United management team.
