Hear it for Ally

ALLY’S Tartan Army are back on the march to honour Ayr’s greatest-ever manager.

A life-sized cardboard cut-out of the one and only MacLeod joined Ayr fans at Peterhead last weekend.

And it will tour other Scottish grounds as a campaign gathers pace to get Ally inducted into the SFA Hall of Fame.

Spokesman Douglas Harper, 35, said: “Ally was a hero who made me want to go and watch football when it was full of excitement and entertainment.

“He did everything for Ayr United and was such an enthusiast that he pulled on his boots for Queen of the South at the age of 61. For all his service to Scottish football, he must be inducted to the Hall of Fame.”

A petition has been launched to support Ally and fans are urged to log on to www.wehaveadream.co.uk or send a nomination direct to the SFA website.

Ayr fans walked from Somerset Park to Hampden last November and raised £21,000 for Alzheimer’s whcih claimed Ayr’s life.

Now they’re on the march again.
