FREED Ayr United midfielder Mark Casey is chasing a Scottish Junior Cup medal after being snapped up by Glenafton.
And former Ayr boss Gordon Dalziel will throw him straight into Saturday’s last 32 tie at home to Dundee Downfield.
But a move for a second ex-Ayr man, Ryan Caddis, appears to have bitten the dust.
Casey, 25, was released by Ayr after work commitments forced him to miss training sessions.
But Daz says he has done a deal to get Casey’s career back on track and reckons he will be a star signing.
Daz said: “I have done my homework and spoken to a few people. He is a good experienced player who can play in a few positions as he did at Portsmouth and then Ayr.
“He might not be able to make some of our training sessions but that doesn’t worry me as he is a fit lad.
“If he is able to train only once a week I don’t see that as a problem.”
Daz thought he had landed a second former Somerset Parker when Caddis agreed to move to Loch Park.
But it seems the winger has had a change of heart and now wants to stay with Hurlford Amateurs.
Dalziel admits he is in the dark about Downfield after a planned spying mission on Saturday was washed out.
He claimed: “That doesn’t concern me as I am only interested in ourselves. When I took the job I was only planning to build something this season and then make a push the following year.
