United 14s are tops my Sons

AYR United under 14s flew the flag against Dumbarton at Maybole as all other academy teams had a free week.

The Honest Men kids recovered from an early setback to turn in another fine attacking display although co-manager Allan Paul felt the team’s overall performance wasn’t one of their best this season.

A defensive mix-up gave the Sons an early lead but United responded in all three periods with Marc Dyer, Cameron Marlow and a trialist all scoring hat-tricks while Scott Cairns and Connor George also got their name on the scoresheet.

That was the under 14’s last youth initiative fixture before the winter break and they can be very proud of their performances to date. The Academy thank JJL Groundworks, Dalrymple for their sponsorship of the game.

Sunday’s fixtures: U14 free; U15 v Alloa (Carrick Academy, Maybole, 2pm); U16 free; SFL Youth League U19: v Ross County (away).
