AYR boss Neil Watt has written off Martyn Campbell for the next two months and is sweating on Andy McLaren.
Campbell, who hasn’t played since early March, has a tear in a thigh muscle. And McLaren, who crocked his knee against Brechin last month, broke down in training last Wednesday.
The veteran playmaker was sent for a scan early this week to assess the damage.
Watt revealed: “We are talking about Martyn being out for eight months since he last played and that’s a real blow as I know he is a real talent. He has done all the physical training with no problems but felt it as soon as he kicked the ball. It’s frustrating for the boy who is desperate to get back playing.
“As for Andy, his knee buckled under him at training giving him a real scare.”
