Sammy Hill to represent Scotland

BOXING star Sammy Hill, 23, has become the first from Ayrshire in a number of years to represent Scotland at top senior level.

Sammy, who runs the Frantic Fitness Boxing classes in Symington, has been called up to fight for Scotland against Ireland in Dublin and Wexford this weekend.

Sammy, who was the young person of the year runner-up at 10 Downing Street, stopped John Thain, the reigning Scottish senior champion in the third round and saw off Arbroath’s Darren Foster by a score of 21-2 at Lasswade.

Light welterweight Sammy said: “If all goes well, I hope to get the Commonwealth spot.”
