Prestwick’s Jordan Slaven and Craig Cathie win Scottish junior pairs

PRESTWICK’S Jordan Slaven teamed up with clubmate Craig Cathie to win the Scottish junior pairs title at Blantyre, beating Lanarkshire 6-4 in the final.

Jordan has now won the national pairs, triples and fours at junior level, with Craig also playing his part in the fours title win earlier in the season.

The Ambassador duo came through a tough section of matches, drawing 4-4 against Inverclyde which meant they needed two wins from theirremaining two section games.

They delivered with a 7-2 win over West of Scotland and a 9-2 win over Garioch to see them ease into the final. Both players played to a consistently high level throughout and were a credit to the club.

The juniors now travel to play Inverclyde in the SYIBA Top Ten and will be hoping to add to their trophy haul.

The Seniors take on Ardrossan at the Galleon on Saturday, hoping to secure the two points which will see them crowned Ayrshire League champions.

Ambassador Prestwick will be represented in four of the Ayrshire Bowling Associationfinals at the Galleon on Sunday. Billy McArthur goes in the gents fours while Nancy Gelleburn chases success in the ladies triples.

Prestwick are going for the singles double with Jamie Houston chasing the gents title and Jordan Slaven bidding for the junior title.

It's been a very busy few weeks at the club with the knockout competitions now reaching the final stages and the various leagues entering their run-ins.

The club's finals week will commence on Monday, April 16 with the annual presentation of prizes on Friday, April 20.Details will be posted on the club notice boards as the various competitions near their conclusion, and the finalists in each event are known.
