PRESTWICK juniorssecured another trophy when they finished top of the pile in the Ayrshire Junior League after a closely fought win away to Auchinleck.
The game was always in the balance but Prestwick won 37-34 in a tight finish.
Scores: Craig Cathie 13, Ryan Currie 12; Andrew Weir 13, Karen McKenzie 11; Jordan Slaven 11, Carrie McLean 11.
Paul Foster added yet another title to his already impressive CV when he teamed up with East Lothian's Alex Marshall to win the world indoor pairs title against Jason Greenslade and Robert Weale of Wales.
Another Prestwick member, David Gourlay, added the world matchplay mixed pairs when he teamed up with England's Debbie Stavrou in his fourthfinal appearance in five years.
The Scots/English partnership edged out Kerry Packwood and Paul Foster 9-3, 6-9, 2-1.
In the national triples playdown, Prestwick’s Junior Cole, Brian Fulton and Robert McCulloch made it through to the Sunday after wins over West Lothian 16-12 and Ayr 23-3. However, they then lost 23-11 to a spirited Balbardie triple.
It was the same story for the ladies when they went out, also on the Sunday, to Coatbridge after beating Abbeyview, Falkirk and West Lothian.
The Seniors' Scottish Knockout Cup kicks off this week with Ayr taking on Auchinleck at Prestwick on Wednesday at 11am. Saturday sees the Ayrshire Seniors' League at Prestwick when Ardrossan face Auchinleck, and Galleon take on Irvine, also at 11am.
The afternoon sees Ayr ladies take on Auchinleck in the Scottish Cup at 2pm.
