AMBASSADOR Prestwick gents safely negotiated the first round of the Scottish Knockout Cup when they beat Allander by105-77.
It was just the tonic they needed after failing to secure their Premier Division status the previous week, and will hopefully see them headed in the right direction again.
They now take on Cumbernauld on Saturday, February 11 and they should be confident of a passage into round three.
The club were not so successful in the Team Championship when they lost86-69 to Galleon at Ardrossan. Prestwick recorded wins in the triples and fours but defeats for the singles representative, Rose McAuley, and the pairs saw Galleon progress to the next round on shotdifference.
Prestwick's juniors are in action this week when they travel to take on Auchinleck in the Ayrshire Junior League, looking to secure the points which would see them crowned champions.
Team: Rink 1: Dawn Anderson, Ross Gouldstone, Connor Cannell, Andrew Weir; Rink 2: Steven Dunlop, Rebecca Houston, Darren Weir, Craig Cathie; Rink 3: Lynsay Brown, Reece Martin, Craig Gouldstone, Jordan Slaven. Reserves: Rachel Duffy, Adam Sturgeon, Jack Miller.
Prestwick's Paul Foster teamed up with Alex Marshall to retain the world indoor pairs title. However, it wasn't such a good day for Paul in the singles when he went out in the first round to young Welsh star Ross Owen.
It was the same story for the club's Paul Boyd, who also went out in the first round when making his debut in the event.
The club are hosting an adult/junior triples competition on February 26. Entries can be phoned to 01292 477802.
Teams must consist of one male adult, one female adult and one junior under 17 on the day of the competition.
