Peter Brown is elected president of Prestwick Indoor Bowling Club

PRESTWICK Indoor Bowling Club held its 47th AGM last Wednesday when Peter Brown was elected president for the next two seasons.

Anne Wilson will serve as vice president with a small committee for support.

Membership fee for the season is £120 with a target date for memberships to be taken by the end of September. Intermediate members up to the age of 18 will pay £35 for their membership and junior members will be charged £10. The rink fees for the season are £3 for a two hour session. All of these fees are set for a three year period.

Already the stadium is looking different with new panelling on the back wall and movement with the lockers. Other significant work will be carried out in the stadium over the coming few months.

Junior coaching will start at Prestwick on Sunday from 10am.

A number of appointments have been made for the forthcoming season. Stuart Reid, Paul Foster and Peter Brown will select the gents Premier Division team, John Lindsay, Ian Fraser and Alex Thomson will select the senior team, Paul Boyd will look after the under 35 team with Alex Cathie, Colin Weir and Peter Brown in charge of the junior section. The ladies’ selection team has still to be appointed.

Sheets are now on display for players who wish to play in any of the gents, ladies or seniors Scottish League teams. The senior selectors have called a trial match on Wednesday, September 14. All players wishing to play in this match should indicate on the sheet on the noticeboard.

There are also a number of social opportunities within Prestwick now with Slimming World and Ayr Flower Club meeting on a Monday night, Zumba and Ayr Writers’ Club meeting on a Wednesday night, the Eternal Light Spiritual Group meeting on a Thursday night and a line dancing class on a Sunday night.
