Brian Fulton against Kevin Nibloe in Prestwick Indoor Bowling Club gents final

BRIAN FULTON will play Kevin Nibloe in the gents singles at Prestwick Indoor Bowling Club on Thursday night.

Brian booked his place after beating Jamie Houston in the semi-final on Sunday.

The ladies singles final is between defending champion Rose McAuley and Val O'Neill. Morris Sturgeon will also look to defend the senior singles when he plays Monty Cowley in the final.

The under 25 singles final sees Jordan Slaven play Craig Cobbledick while the under 15 singles final will be between Matthew Grant and Darren Weir.

The presentation of prizes will be held immediately after the finals.

A number of finals were played over the last week with Alec Adrain and Paul Foster lifting the gents national pairs title after edging an exciting contest against Brian Fulton and Robert McCulloch.

Both Brian and Robert were to get their hands on silverware before the end of the week with Brian winning the triples alongside Allan Hendry and Junior Cole.

Robert claimed the fours title with partners Lee McCulloch, Stuart Reid and Craig Cobbledick. The ladies Sunday triples league was won by the team of Liz Connell, Mary Higgins, Janetta Rodger and Kathie Mitchell.

The team of Margaret Wells, Andrina Scott, Margaret Train and Sheila Carswell finished second. The knockout mixed fours title went to the team of Val O'Neill, Pat Sutherland, Colin Weir and Jim O'Neill after they had a convincing win in the final against Andrina Scott, Don Sharp, Ian Davey and Margaret Wells.

Monday and Tuesday night saw the start of the new League Cup with 16 teams competing from across all of the fours league within the club.

Willie Kennedy, Gavin Campbell, Robert McCulloch and John Docherty were the four successful teams on day one and progressed through to the semi finals and finals which were due to be held on Tuesday evening.

Also on Tuesday was the mixed pairs league final between Val and Tommy Houston and Adam Grant and Jennifer Reid and the under 17 singles final between Jordan Slaven and Craig Cathie.

Wednesday sees the final of the adult and junior league between Craig Cobbledick and Brad McCulloch and Alan Williams and Jordan Slaven; the national two bowl pairs final between the pairing of Gary Martin and Paul Boyd and the current Scottish champions, Junior Cole and Robert Rae; the under 12 singles final takes place between Rebecca Houston and Darren Weir; and the SYIBA singles final between Adam Grant and Andrew Weir; and the senior fours league final is also played on Wednesday night between Morris Sturgeon and Hector Berretti.

The weekday pairs final is at noon on Wednesday between Madge Egger and Muriel Cowley and Jennifer Reid and Sheena Docherty with the ladies national fours final at 2pm with Jill West against Rose-ena Smillie. The ladies fours league final will be held on Thursday with a noon start for Margaret Ross against Doreen Black.

A successful presidents night was held at Prestwick on Saturday with Kirk James' cabaret show playing to the members and guests.

The night was completely sponsored and the club thanks those members who gave donations.

The club is holding an Easter wappenschaw on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm. The price is £8 which includes a meal after the game and a cuppa during it. George Templeton will be master of ceremonies for this match and all members and their guests are welcome to play. Names can be added to the lists within the club.

From Monday (April 25), the club moves on to their summer hours programme with the stadium open from 9.30am each weekday morning through to around 3pm.

The Tuesday summer league will be held again this year with a 1pm start time with two hour long matches. There will also be a Thursday summer league held from noon for 90 minutes.

The senior gents league is on a Wednesday from 10am to noon while the senior ladies league is on a Friday from 1.30pm to 3pm. All members are welcome to play. Contact Gordon at the club.
