THE Wallaces Express Christmas open two bowl triples opened at Prestwick Indoor on Tuesday and is due to conclude today (Thursday).
A total of 24 teams are competing for the title with the top eight progressing to the quarter-finals on Thursday evening.
The last eight ties start at 6.30pm with the semi finals at 7.50pm and the final at 9.10pm. The presentation of prizes is scheduled for 10.15pm.
The club will hold a special general meeting on Tuesday, January 11 at 7pm. The meeting has been called to discuss issues with the heating system at Prestwick Indoor and a good turnout of members is requested.
A Hogmanay Wappenschaw is due to be held on Friday from 2pm to 4pm. All members and guests are welcome to take part with the cost being £3 and festive treats being provided.
The club will close at 5pm on Friday and will reopen on Monday, January 3 for play from 10am.
Prestwick will compete in the Trevor Whale Trophy on Monday, January 3 at Auchinleck. The annual competition is a two rink contest for players that are under 30 years of age. The event is now well established on the bowling calendar and 16 teams will be part of the event on Monday.
The line-up includes Ardrossan, Auchinleck, Prestwick, Galleon, Lanarkshire, Whiteinch, Dumbernauld, Blantyre, Abbeyview, West Lothian, Midlothian, Portobello, Bainfield, Scottish Ladies, Falkirk and Junior Select.
Half yearly memberships are available at Prestwick Indoor for anyone who wishes to join the club from January. The fee of £31 will entitle the member to full use of the club and to play in all the competitions. Anyone interested should contact Gordon at the club.
