Bowling: Ayrshire title bid ends in semi-final

AYRSHIRE’S bid for the Cities and Counties Championship ended in the semi-final with a 131-110 defeat to Midlothian at Crookston on Sunday.

Ayrshire matched their opponents for most of the match and were in the lead for a short period but Midlothian were the more determined to win and with a surge over the final ends pulled clear.

Midlothian now play Lanarkshire South in the final at Bainfield on Sunday at 1pm.

Meanwhile, the Ayrshire championship finals take place at Dundonald on Saturday at 2pm with the youths under 16 singles and the senior triples at 11am.
