Prestwick beat Auchinleck in title chase

PRESTWICK gents kept up their title chase with a 83-60 home win against Auchinleck.

Scores: Drew Boyd 21, S. Anderson 18; Paul Boyd 16, D. McClue 13; Robert McCulloch 29, G. Johnstone 16; Colin Smith 17, D. Watson 13.

The gents now travel to Midlothian on Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Brian Fulton, Craig Cobbledick, John Candlish, Robert McCulloch; Rink 2: Allan Hendry, John Keir, Alan Williams, Drew Boyd; Rink 3: Gary Martin, Stuart England, Stuart Reid, Paul Boyd; Rink 4: Lee McCulloch, Eddie England, Craig England, Colin Smith.

The seniors enjoyed a 79-52 win at Cowal and remain two points clear at the top of their section.

Scores: Michael Higgins 27, D. McClure 16; Jim Fortune 12, D. Rose 17; Morris Sturgeon 24, S. Storie 5; Cliff Eade 16, J. Clark 14.

The seniors now face a vital home match against Galleon with the following team: Rink 1: Scott Watson, Tom Howson, Joe Reid, Morris Sturgeon; Rink 2: Willie Ferguson, John Lindsay, Alan Paxton, Michael Higgins; Rink 3: Willie Kennedy, Eddie Doolan, Jim Ross, Jim Fortune; Rink 4: Alex Thomson, John Docherty, Hector Berretti, Cliff Eade.

The ladies lost 75-63 at Ardrossan and will now resume their league campaign in the New Year.

The juniors won 6-2 at Galleon and now travel to Ardrossan on Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Darren Weir, Adam Grant, David Graham, Daniel Wallace; Rink 2: Matthew Grant, Nicola Graham, Jordan Slaven, Amy Brown; Rink 3: Andrew Weir, Steven Dunlop, Gillian Cobbledick, Craig Cathie.

Prestwick play host to the Ayrshire Ladies League on Sunday (2pm) while the gents take on Ardrossan at Galleon the same day.
