Prestwick senior bowlers lose to Dumbarton

PRESTWICK seniors suffered their first defeat of the season at Dumbarton where they lost 61-53.

Scores: Cliff Eade 13, R. Kennedy 16, Jim Fortune 11, J. Marsland 19; Michael Higgins 13, S. Shields 14; Morris Sturgeon 16, D. Cole 12.

The seniors now travel to West of Scotland with the following team: Rink 1: Scott Watson, Tom Howson, Hector Berretti, Morris Sturgeon; Rink 2: Willie Kennedy, Willie Fulton, Willie Scott, Jim Fortune; Rink 3: Willie Ferguson, Alex Thomson, Joe Reid, Cliff Eade; Rink 4: John Lindsay, John Docherty, Alan Paxton, Michael Higgins.

The ladies had a convincing victory at home against East Kilbride with four winning rinks.

Scores: Kathy Mitchell 25, J. Ramsay 16; Betty McKinlay 26, C. Conlon 14; Val O'Neill 30, W. Thomson 13; Margaret Wells 29, M. Mackay 12.

The ladies now face Galleon at home with the following team: Rink 1: Jean Paterson, Dorothy Nimmo, Muriel Cowley, Kathie Mitchell; Rink 2: Ella Caddis, Doreen Wilson, Nancy Gelleburn, Val O'Neill; Rink 3: Margaret McRonald, Amy Brown, Cathy Lawson, Betty McKinlay; Rink 4: Ann Boyd, Diane Finlayson, Marion Thomson, Margaret Wells.

The juniors maintained their position at the top of the Ayrshire League with an 8-0 win against Auchinleck.

Scores: Craig Cathie 14, M. Walker 6, Daniel Wallace 14, K. McKinlay 7; Amy Brown 13, Craig McClue 8.

In the Scottish junior singles playdowns, Craig Cobbledick lost his first round match 21-9 to Ardrossan while Amy Brown beat Falkirk 21-11 before losing by the same score to fellow junior internationalist Michelle Cooper (Ardrossan).

Prestwick gents travel to Lanarkshire this weekend with the following team: Rink 1: Allan Hendry, Stuart England, Alan Williams, Drew Boyd; Rink 2: Alan Williams Jnr, Eddie England, Peter Brown, Colin Smith; Rink 3: Lee McCulloch, Craig Cobbledick, John Candlish, Robert McCulloch; Rink 4: Gary Martin, Drew Dunlop, Stuart Reid, Paul Boyd.

On Sunday, the second leg of the Under 35 match takes place at Auchinleck from 10am to 2pm: Team: Rink 1: Chris Duffy, Alan Williams, Allan Hendry, Junior Cole; Rink 2: Jamie Houston, Drew Dunlop, Gary Martin, Paul Boyd; Rink 3: Paul Willaims, Rhys Snedden, Craig Cobbledick, Scott McNeillie; Rink 4: Mark Kerr, Amy Brown, Lee McCulloch, Stuart England.

Also in action on Sunday are the Ayrshire ladies and gents (2pm-6pm) with the gents facing Galleon at Auchinleck and the ladies against Irvine at Irvine.
