Prestwick remain unbeaten

PRESTWICK gents notched up a significant 76-60 home win over a formidable Midlothian team on Saturday to remain unbeaten after three matches.

Scores: Colin Smith 18, W. Peacock 13; Paul Boyd 20, D. Peacock 16; John Candlish 9, G. Archer 19; Drew Boyd 29, W. Rankin 12.

The gents now entertain fellow table toppers West Lothian on Saturday with the following team:

Rink 1: Lee McCulloch, Craig Cobbledick, John Candlish, Robert McCulloch; Rink 2: Allan Hendry, Stuart England, Alan Williams, Drew Boyd; Rink 3: Gary Martin, Drew Dunlop, Stuart Reid, Paul Boyd; Rink 4: Alan Williams jnr, Eddie England, Peter Brown, Colin Smith.

The under 35s will entertain Auchinleck in the first leg of their New Hall Stud match on Sunday with the return leg scheduled for November 15.

The seniors also preserved their unbeaten record with a 68-42 win at Galleon. Scores: Morris Sturgeon 16, D. Kenmuir 5; Cliff Eade 18, D. Jamieson 17; Jim Fortune 17, A. Findlay 8; Michael Higgins 17, W. Wright 12.

The seniors play host to Paisley this Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Scott Watson, Willie Fulton, Joe Reid, Morris Sturgeon; Rink 2: Lewis Lusk, Alex Thomson, John Docherty, Cliff Eade; Rink 3: Hector Berretti, Willie Kennedy, Willie Scott, Jim Fortune; Rink 4: Willie Ferguson, Jim Ross, Alan Paxton, Michael Higgins.

In the national senior fours at Ayr, Joe Reid, Michael Higgins, Morris Sturgeon and Cliff Eade beat Inverclyde 23-9 before losing 14-13 after an extra end against Ardrossan.

The ladies are in action at Ayr on Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Jean Paterson, Dorothy Nimmo, Muriel Cowley, Kathie Mitchell; Rink 2: Margaret McRonald, Amy Brown, Cathy Lawson, Betty McKinlay; Rink 3: Ella Caddis, Doreen Wilson, Marion Thomson, Nancy Gelleburn; Rink 4: Ann Boyd, Diane Finlayson, Lottie Littlejohn, Margaret Wells.

In the ladies national singles at Midlothian, Rose McAuley enjoyed a 21-11 win over Dundee before losing 21-15 to Auchinleck's Josephine Williamson.

The juniors kicked off their Ayrshire League campaign with a 8-0 home win against Galleon.

The gents commenced their Ayrshire League season with a 6-2 over Irvine and now take on Auchinleck at Irvine on Sunday.

The ladies are also in Ayrshire action on Sunday when they face Galleon at Ardrossan.
