Prestwick off to a flying start
PRESTWICK gents opened their season with a 78-67 home win over Arbroath.

The gents now travel to Auchinleck on Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Chris Duffy, John Keir, Craig Cobbledick, John Candlish; Rink 2: Allan Hendry, Stuart England, Alan Williams, Drew Boyd; Rink 3: Gary Martin, Drew Dunlop, Stuart Reid, Paul Boyd; Rink 4: Alan Williams Jnr, Eddie England, Peter Brown, Colin Smith.
The seniors enjoyed another home victory when they beat Cumbernauld 68-55. Scores: Morris Sturgeon 9, A. Stirling 12; Jim Fortune 17, T. Anderson 18; Michael Higgins 16, J. McConnachie 13; Cliff Eade 26, T. Turnbull 12.
The seniors now face Ayr away on Saturday with the following team: Rink 1: Scott Watson, Willie Fulton, Joe Reid, Morris Sturgeon; Rink 2: Jim Lindsay, Tom Howson, John Docherty, Cliff Eade; Rink 3: Hector Berretti, Willie Kennedy, Willie Scott, Jim Fortune; Rink 4: Willie Ferguson, Jim Ross, Alan Paxton, Michael Higgins.
The ladies lost 93-49 at Irvine and now entertain Ardrossan on Saturday. Rink 1: Jean Paterson, Dorothy Nimmo, Muriel Cowley, Kathie Mitchell; Rink 2: Margaret McRonald, Amy Brown, Cathy Lawson, Betty McKinlay; Rink 3: Ella Caddis, Doreen Wilson, Nancy Gelleburn, Betty Hainey; Rink 4: Ann Boyd, May Hood, Lottie Littlejohn, Margaret Wells.
The national two bowl pairs playdowns are held on Sunday with the gents (Michael Higgins, Morris Sturgeon) taking on Ayr at Blantyre and the ladies (Lorna Thomson, Rose McAuley) facing Newton Stewart at Galleon.
