Miller springs big champion surprise
IAN MILLER is Ayr’s champion bowler for the first time.
The Prestwick BC member sprung a surprise to beat Gary Hood of Hawkhill 21-13 in the Ayr Trophies competition final at Peter Boyle on Sunday.
In the semi-finals, Miller beat John Corbett (Forehill) 21-14 while Hood was a 21-12 winner over Willie Cole (Kincaidston).
The McDonald-Agnew Trophy went to John Cuthbertson (Peter Boyle) who beat Stuart Miller (Forehill) 21-7.
Semi-finals: Cuthbertson 21, Graham McKinlay (Northfield) 8; Miller 21, David Gass (Newton Park) 14.
The ladies champion for the third time is Anne Brown of Newton Park. She beat three times runner-up Isobel Shields (Seafield) 21-15.
Semi-finals: Brown 21, Sheila Cole (KIncaidston) 1; Shields 21, Muriel Cowley 10.
