Tarbolton's Colin bowls up a glory treble

TREBLE topper Colin Smith (Tarbolton) is celebrating a hat-trick of titles in the Ayrshire Bowling Championships.

On form Colin lifted the singles with a 21-10 win over Darren O’Rourke (West Kilbride) in the final at Saltcoats.

Last year, he skipped John Henderson, George Emms and Peter Brown to victory in the fours. And in 2006, he won the pairs with his son Jason.

There was joy also for Peter Boyle and Troon Portland who won the triples and senior fours.

Peter Boyle’s Ian Walker, John Jackson and John Cuthbertson beat Crosshouse 16-11 while Troon Portland took the senior fours with a 15-14 win over Largs.

Craig Adrain (Irvine Park) became the first player to retain the youths (under 16) title, beating Alan Crerar (Newmilns) 21-15.

Also a second time winner was Joe Scoular (Glenfield) who lifted the secretaries’ singles — 30 years after his first triumph.
