IT’S an incredibly busy June at Girvan Bowling Club, with all kinds of competitions going on.
Highlights so far include the Carrick Cup, with 10 clubs in the district contesting the historic event.
Lining up for the event were: Girvan, Colmonell, Dailly, Kirkmichael, Ballantrae, Barrhill, Maidens, Maybole, Maybole MP and Crosshill.
Each club entered four triples, and after an enjoyable afternoon, Dailly emerged as winners of the grand old trophy.
Meanwhile, Dailly enjoyed more success in the annual challenge trophy match against Girvan.
The contest, held this year at Girvan, has been sponsored by Kenny and Margaret Scobie since its inception way back in 1991.
Dailly won the challenge by 103 shots to 81, and everyone enjoyed an excellent meal, provided by Girvan Ladies.
And a good turn-out of 51 members of Girvan Bowling Club competed for the Johnny Woods Shield in what proved another glorious day for bowling.
It was a close final between the pairs of Iain Ross and Elizabeth Clarke, and Law McIntyre and Sadie Bonner, with Iain and Elizabeth the eventual winners.
Girvan president Norman Thomson thanked everyone who contributed to the competition’s success, especially the generoussponsor Johnny Woods of Coastal Cars.
