Ayr Racecourse gears up for jumps season

AYR Racecourse is gearing up for its 2009-2010 jumps season which gets underway next Wednesday, December 2.

The Festive Cheer Raceday features seven races, the first due off at 12.20pm, and the principal race is The Up to £125 Free Bet At Victorchandler.com Handicap Chase worth £12,000 in prizemoney at 1.25pm.

The meeting is one of two held in December – the other being the Christmas Party Raceday scheduled for Monday December 14.

Ayr Racecourse head of PR Iain Ferguson said: "It’s nearly seven months since we last staged a jumps meeting at Ayr and that was the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival back in April.

"The course is in great shape with the fences looking good and it’s a bonus we are starting with two meetings in December which carry decent prizemoney. We are hoping for good fields and a healthy crowd."

A total of 11 jumps meetings are planned between now and next April which is the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival run on Friday and Saturday April 16 and 17.
