Prestwick Ambassador senior gents in Scottish League semi-finals

Prestwick Ambassador qualified from the west section of the senior gents Scottish League and now take their place in the semi finals at Paisley on Saturday, February 2.

The selectors have named the following team for the match: Rink 1: J Ross, W Fulton, J Reid, M Sturgeon; Rink 2: S Watson, H Berretti, J Lindsay, A Paxton; Rink 3: W Kennedy, T Howson, J Fortune, M Higgins; Rink 4: D Brown, J Docherty, A Thomson, W McArthur; Reserves: S Gibson, W Ferguson.

The club’s gents side wrapped up their Scottish League campaign with a 39 shot defeat at the Galleon (99-60) and now look forward to the Scottish Cup next month.

The Top 10 Team Championship got underway on Sunday with Prestwick Ambassador recording a good first round victory over Paisley (5-3). The Bellevue Road club now make the short journey to Ayr, where they face Ardrossan in the next round.

The club’s junior team secured the Ayrshire League title for the second year in succession when they beatArdrosssan away from home by 6-2.

Wins for Andrew Weir (14-13) and Adam Grant (17-6) were enough to cover a 10 shot defeat for Darren Weir’s rink, giving the juniors an overall two shot victory (38-36).

The Junior Top 10 Championships kick off this week with Prestwick’s junior side facing Ardrossan at home with a 10am start time. The following team has been selected to represent the junior section:

Singles: Darren Weir; pairs: Dawn Anderson and Andrew Weir; triples: Adam Sturgeon, Mathew Grant and Adam Grant; fours: Tammy McLean, Rebecca Houston, Reece Martin and Steven Dunlop; reserves: Jordan Law, jack Miller and Louise Noon.
