Ayr’s cult singing fan wants to buy a new player and help the team to the play-offs.
Somerset Boab, who is already an internet hit, this week launched his latest eight track offering.
And he has urged fans to snap up the £10 United CD as an ideal Christmas present and help the club at the same time.
Boab, a 47-year-old banker from Mossblown, said: “If 500 fans each bought one it would fund a player from January to May.
“The team badly needs another player and I want to play my part. ”
Boab will sign copies of his Ayrshire Boaby Style CD in the club shop on Saturday from 2pm. If the game is off, he’ll be there at 11am. The move has been hailed by boss Mark Roberts who wants to bring in fresh blood during the transfer window.
He said: “It’s a fantastic gesture to give every penny and shows his heart is in the right place.
“And the good thing is all the money will come to me for team building.”
Weather permitting, Ayr host East Fife on Saturday but all eyes are on end of week temperatures as Somerset was frozen in midweek.
Roberts, who now doubles as a met man, revealed: “There is rain forecast for Thursday evening so the game should be on.
“We played a bounce game on Saturday morning and it was fine.
“I was able to give players like Anthony Marenghi 90 minutes and that will do him the world of good.
“He looked great and has definitely put himself in my thoughts for Saturday.
“Darren McGill, who has been injured for three months, is starting to get fit again and it’s like having a new signing.
“For the first time in months, I have everybody fit with the exception of Martyn Campbell and Michael McGowan who are both long term.”
Ayr face a hectic festive spell of games. The frozen off match at Brechin has been re-scheduled for Saturday, December 22.
Then comes a Boxing Day trip to Albion Rovers and home games against Alloa (December 29) and Queen of the South (January 2).
●The club shop are launching a Saturday bonanza in addition to their 25 per cent December sale.
For every £40 spent, customers will get a free lucky dip for a polo shirt, signed United ball, hat, scarf or garden gnome.
●The 19s play Queens Park on the 3G at Belmont Academy on Friday at 7.15pm.
