AYR Racecourse’s next meeting is the two day New Year Festival on Wednesday and Thursday, January 2 and 3 which promises to be an action packed fixture.
Traditionally a well attended meeting, there will be seven races on both days and with some good prize money on offer there are sure to be large fields with all the top northern stables represented.
The opening day features a Class 3 Handicap Chase over two miles with £12,000 in the prize fund and this will see some hardened battlers competing for what will be the biggest prize of the day over jumps in the UK.
On Thursday, the highlight is a £10,000 Handicap Hurdle over two miles, four furlongs which will feature some of the north’s top handicap hurdlers looking to start the New Year with a bang.
Ayr sales and marketing manager Lindsey Smith said: “We look forward to the New Year Festival every year and with some top prize money on offer the racing should be very competitive.” Details from 01292 264179 or www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk
