Milton Murray (Largs Golf Club) is the new president of the Ayrshire Golf Association.
He succeeded David Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie), who stood down at the AGM at Caprington.
Milton is a past captain of Irvine Ravenspark and a member of the county executive since 2005.
James McMurdo (Ballochmyle) will be vice president for the next two years. Alasdair Malcolm (Prestwick St Nicholas) was re-elected secretary and treasurer. Ronnie Potts (Irvine Ravenspark) was elected as the association’s Scottish Golf Union representative.
• Former Prestwick Golf Club assistant and Tartan Tour pro Callum Nicoll, now based in the Middle East, was the leading Scot in the Shaikh Maktoum Dubai Open at Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai. Nicoll shot a three under par 54-hole total of 213 (69, 73, 71) to finish joint 12th behind the winner, Welshman Stephen Dodd on 205.
Ladies Football
Troon ladies battled back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Airdrie.
Troon had beaten them 10-2 earlier in the season but burst back to life when an inch perfect cross by Shannon Morgan found Sam McManus who headed home.
The equaliser came when Clare Docherty smashed a free kick into the top corner. Airdrie regained the lead when a corner wasn’t cleared and beat Gill Mason.
It looked to be the end of Troon’s unbeaten run but Docherty pounced in injury time from a swerving cross by Lauren Anderson to clinch her second consecutive player of the match award.
Manager Robbie Hastings said: “It looked a day to forget until Clare rescued a late point.”
Troon now look forward to the last game of the season against Buchan at Portland Park on Sunday.
