Ayr Racecourse hold their first jumps meeting of the season on Saturday with the John Smith’s Raceday featuring seven races.
Action starts at 1pm with The John Smith’s Maiden Hurdle, where the Lucinda Russell trained Lord Of Drums catches the eye.
The feature at 3.20pm, is the £15,000 John Smith’s No Nonsense Handicap Chase, which attracted Bene Lad from the Jim Goldie yard, Tiptoeaway trained by Tim Easterby and Donald McCain’s Boruler . It is the first of 10 jumps fixtures, culminating in the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival on April 19 and 20.
Spokesman Iain Ferguson said: “The season at Ayr promises to be the most exciting ever. We have stars who will be regular visitors, including Lucinda Russell who is chasing Lenny Lungo’s Scottish record of 63 winners in a season and Lucy Alexander, who is one of the most exciting jockeys to emerge in a long time.”
