RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the back to winter change of last week did not deter J. Lothian another four which takes him to 14 in the last two weeks. T. Wilson, whose three equals that tally, should fill a few freezers in Troon and Stewarton.
Other catches: Robert Scott four on power bait, Mr X two browns for 3¼ lbs but forgot his name and method, Frick Goudie one for 2¾ lbs on a No2 red and gold mepp,
The working men and juniors came out to play on a glorious Saturday. Frick Goudie was first finished in half a dozen cast in Boathouse Bay with four for 9lbs 7oz on his trusty mepp, John Anderson was soon to follow with four on the running worm for 9lbs 12oz, nephew Andrew had to be different and caught one of his on a fire tiger mepp total bag 9lbs, Still in Boathouse Bay Thomas Dunstan landed four for 11lbs 3oz including a four pounder in as many casts on a 5cm countdown, Robert Scott, trying a more laid back approach on power bait, was down the road just as quick with 9lbs 4oz.
Slightly further along, Neil McGinn had four as quick for 8lbs on a montana nymph, side kick Hendry MacConnell the same result on a green montana but forgot the weight, Davie Millar one at 1½lbs on an ace of spades.
Watching this phenomenon on the far bank, Eric and son Stuart Greenwood were happy with a three pounder each on power bait.
Sunday started with Robert Scott catching another four on power bait, Frick Goudie both trying to fill some freezers in Prestwick and Coylton three for 7lbs 7oz before losing his mepp, John Marlowe had two on a rapala for 5lbs 4oz, one with a red and gold mepp attached as witnessed by Robert Scott. As the day wore on Tom Drummond and eight day tickets were steadily picking up fish on power bait and making the most of the fantastic weather.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): wet and windy weather has kept the fishermen to a minimum but the few who have braved it were rewarded with good. hard fighting fish.
Bait pond two-year-old Adam and Hailey Samson, from Troon, both caught their very first rainbow trout with a combined weight of 4.5 lb. Mr Robertson from Ayr two weighing 7.75 lb, Mr Smith from Ayr two weighing 4.2 lb, R. Paterson from Monkton caught a nice rainbow weighing 2.1 lb.
Fly pond: K. Clark from Ayr caught 21 fish using a black rabbit, Mr Martin from Dumfries eight using a white rabbit, Mike Denton from Ayr seven using a caldy dry fly, M. Britton from Hollybush five using various dry flies, T. Stewart from Sanquhar four using a sedge, Mr Gribben from Ayr three using a red montana, D. Duncan snr from Drongan three using a damsell, D. Smith from Sanquhar four using a sedge dry fly.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding open evening fly and bait competitions on Saturday, June 2. They will both run from 5-10pm and will include burgers. Cost is £20 including food, (£5 for food if not fishing).
Both competitions will be a four fish limit, heaviest bag wins, trophies for first three. There will be a raffle for the Ayrshire Hospice with donations gratefully received.

Winner of the open fly competition was Ian Gray with four fish for 12lb 3oz, second was Jamie Graham four for 8lb 12oz, third was Sean Harvey with four for 8lb 10oz. A total of 42 fish were caught.

BROOMHILL TROUT AND COARSE FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): fly pond: anglers having some really good sport with excellent rises in the evening with dry flies.
