Basketball: Troon Tornadoes felled by Fury

TROON Tornadoes senior men's form slump continued when they lost 69-61 to a poor Falkirk Fury.

Although without Andy Pearson, Stefan Loyen and Kareem Nassar, Tornadoes squandered a chance to go joint top of the national league. Down 17-13 at the end of the first quarter, Tornadoes bounced back to win the second 16-13 and go into the second half 30-27 down.

Poor defensive rebounding allowed Fury to pick up some easy baskets after their missed shots and they stretched the lead to 47-41 going into the last quarter. However, with two minutes to go, Tornadoes went 56-55 in front. Fury went straight back into the lead when they hit a three point shot but Tornadoes did the same on the next offense.

However, Fury made another three point shot and as Tornadoes chased the game they had to stop the clock by fouling and this sent Fury to the free throw line where they made no mistake.

Tornadoes face a difficult away game to Glasgow Storm this weekend and will hope for better outside shooting if they are to snap their two game losing streak.
