David makes it two in a row at Girvan

TURNBERRY’S David Strachan fired a scratch 65 to win the Stevenson Trophy at Girvan for the second year in a row.

David’s win in the big annual open tourney came by the narrowest of margins, edging out Weir McCulloch of Maybole, who also shot 65, by virtue of a better inward half.

The event attracted golfers from as far away as Airdrie.

And those who had never played the course before enjoyed playing a track that features an opening eight holes of links golf, followed by 10 of parkland.
