SCOTTISH butchers have launched a campaign to get square sausage recognised as a protected food.
People from the industry want the popular breakfast treat to be added to the list of foodstuffs with a Protected Geographical Indicator (PGI) .
This would mean that Lorne sausage would only be able to be given the name if it is made in Scotland and to a recipe which is set down in the terms of the PGI.
