Cumbria hit by earthquake

AN EARTHQUAKE reaching 3.7 on the Richter scale has hit South Cumbria.

Police reported receiving phone calls shortly after the quake in the English county.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Earthquakes are very rarely seen in the UK and are usually far more frequent in countries that lie on top of tectonic plates.

When the plates shift they can cause severe widespread damage and death.
