Miss Universe dubs Guantanamo Bay 'fun'

A BEAUTY queen has created controversy by declaring prison camp Guantanamo Bay was "a loooot of fun".

Dayana Mendoza, from Venezuela, made the comments on the Miss Universe blog after visiting the camp last week. She also remarked that the place, where allegations have been made of torture, was "calm and beautiful" and she "didn't want to leave".

The blog entry has since been removed and a statement uploaded by Miss Universe organisers about the purpose of the trip, which was as part of a goodwill tour to visit troops stationed around the world.

Mendoza's comments have drawn harsh responses from people, including one blogger who wrote: "My God! Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. This is horrendous."
