Masonhill wins award

AYR crematorium is the best in Britain, and that’s official.

For the facility beat off competition from across the country to win the United Kingdon Crematorium of the Year at a top award ceremony this week.

South Ayrshire’s environmental chief, Councillor Peter Convery, insists that the award is a measure of the hard work and dedication of staff at Masonhill Crematorium.

He said: “I am very pleased that all the dedication, compassion and hard work shown by the staff at the crematorium, on a daily basis, has been marked with this prestigious national award.”

The annual contest is open to all British cemeteries, churchyards or crematroria.

It was introduced by the Memorial Awareness Board to raise standards and reward hard-working staff at good facilities.
