Armed raid on bookies

A TROON bookies shop was the scene of an armed robbery on Tuesday morning.

The raid took place at the Templehill branch of William Hill where a man made off with a three-figure sum of cash.

He made his bid at around 10.35am by brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at a female member of staff, who was left badly shaken.

He escaped with the money and is believed to have headed up Templehill towards Wood Road.

The man is described as 30 years old, 6ft tall, heavy built with heavy facial growth, wearing a dark top, dark trousers, a skip cap and sun- glasses.
