Man to face court over sex assault

A man has been arrested in connection with the serious sexual assault of a woman.

The 22-year-old woman was attacked in Bedford Avenue in the Powis area of Aberdeen on Saturday morning, sparking one of Grampian Police's largest investigations, involving around 130 officers.

The arrested man, a 21-year-old, will appear before Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, said a force spokesman.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Dunn said: "We would like to thank members of the public for their co-operation over the last few days, particularly residents of the Powis area. We appreciate this incident will have considerably affected their daily lives."
