Divers searching for man find body

Police divers hunting for an elderly walker missing since the weekend have found a body.

William Robb, 75, disappeared while walking with friends on the Speyside Way in the Fochabers area of Moray on Sunday morning.

A major hunt was launched involving more than 30 people from Grampian Police and mountain rescue teams, rescue dogs and an RAF helicopter.

Police divers began searching the River Spey on Tuesday.

A spokesman said: "Grampian Police can confirm that the body of an elderly man was recovered from the River Spey near Fochabers this afternoon. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

"As is usual in such circumstances, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
