Woman dies after flats block blaze

A woman has died after a fire broke out in a high-rise block of flats.

Fire crews were called to Nisbet Court in the Restalrig area of Edinburgh at about 10.45am to a report of a blaze in a flat on the fourteenth floor.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and rescued the woman from the property.

She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation into the cause will now take place, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said.
