Body of missing man found in river

The body of a man missing for more than a fortnight has been recovered from a river.

Father-of-three George Glackin, 43, from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, had been missing since Tuesday September 18.

The construction supervisor's family made an emotional appeal for information about his whereabouts 10 days after he vanished.

Strathclyde Police confirmed Mr Glackin's body was recovered from the River Clyde, near Clyde Street, on Friday afternoon.

His relatives have been told.

A force spokeswoman said: "There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. However, a post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

"A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Mr Glackin was a keen fisherman and walker and was known to frequent the Trossachs, as well as pubs around the Saltmarket, Rutherglen, East Kilbride and the east end of Glasgow.
