Rainfall forces airport to close
An airport has been forced to close because of "severe rainfall", with passengers warned to be prepared for delays to early morning flights on Friday.
Glasgow Prestwick airport shut at 4.30pm on Thursday and bosses said it is unlikely to reopen until 9am on Friday.
Four early morning flights - to Palma, Wroclaw, Fuerteventura and Dublin - could experience delays but passengers were told to travel to the airport as planned.
They were also advised to contact their airline for information and check the airport website which will be updated from 6am.
A spokesman for the airport said: "The severe rainfall that has affected the Prestwick area has meant that the airport had to close from 4.30pm and is unlikely to reopen until 9am Friday September 21.
"Glasgow Prestwick sincerely apologises for the inconvenience but the safety of our passengers is paramount."
