Death crash appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died when his motorcycle collided with a car.

The two-vehicle crash happened on the A97, three miles south of Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, at around 11.15am on Sunday.

The 38-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene, Grampian Police said. The man driving the car and his female passenger were not injured.

Inspector Scott Mann said: "Sadly, a man has died at this scene after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car. His immediate family have been notified and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"We are in the process of establishing the cause of the collision and the road has been closed for several hours to allow us to examine the scene.

"It is important that we trace all witnesses and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or its immediate aftermath, and who has not yet spoken with police, to contact us at the earliest opportunity."
